The above photograph, looking North on Main Ave., was taken by Ludolph (Louis) Hensel who was undoubtedly the most prolific chronicler of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Hensel documented many people and places around Hawley during his lifetime. The Hawley Public Library owns a collection of Hensel glass negatives from 1887 until his death in 1927.
