Summer Garden Party & Tour Season Kick-Off
Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm kicks off its summer season with the Summer Garden Party on Saturday June 17. Visit the homestead and experience life in the 1800s. Learn about the original Pennsylvania German farm family who settled here in the late 1760s. See the farm animals, plus heritage craft and trade skills demonstrated as you tour the buildings with guides portraying members of the Depper family. Closed Mondays except Labor Day.
In addition to the tour, enjoy the Summer Garden Party at no additional charge. Visitors will have a chance to involve themselves in a number of garden-related activities. Tour the farm's kitchen garden, get help with garden basics, sample yummy treats made with fresh herbs and vegetables and try some herbal breads made in the outdoor brick bake oven. The theme area for 2017 is Outdoor Living Space and all will enjoy making artwork to liven up their own porches and patios. Featured demonstrations this year are Making Herbal Cheese and Dutch Oven Cooking with Fresh Herbs. This day will be full of gardening inspiration, artistic creation and fun in the outdoors.
This event is supported in part by a PA Project Stream grant. All funds raised support the mission of the non-profit farm museum.
