Equinunk Historical Society & Museum
The Equinunk Historical Society maintains the Joel Hill Water-Powered Sawmill and the Calder House Museum.The Joel Hill Sawmill is a working, 1850s water-powered sawmill with scheduled demonstrations five times per year. The Calder House Museum is open May through October Wednesdays and Fridays 2 to 4 pm and Saturdays 12 to 4 pm Memorial Day through Columbus Day. It adds Sundays from 12 to 4 pm in July and August. The Museum features permanent exhibits of textiles, farm and household tools and Native Americans. Educational programs with special displays are presented in the summer months. The Museum is open year-round by appointment for genealogical and historical research. Resources include property records, census records for Wayne and Pike Counties, and early local newspapers.
