Equinunk Historical Society & Museum
The pet-friendly Equinunk Historical Society was established in 1981.
Leashed pets are welcome at the Equinunk Historical Society's Calder House Museum, and at select society-sponsored events throughout the year. The Equinunk Historical Society maintains the Joel Hill Water-Powered Sawmill and the Calder House Museum. The Joel Hill Sawmill is a working, 1850s water-powered sawmill. Recently opened is the Thomas Cleveland Machinery Museum, located at the site of the mill. The Calder House Museum features permanent exhibits of textiles, farm and household tools and Native Americans. Educational programs with special displays are presented in the summer months. The Museum is open year-round by appointment for genealogical and historical research. Resources include property records, census records for Wayne and Pike Counties, and early local newspapers.
