Lacawac Sanctuary
The most notable feature of Lacawac Sanctuary is Lake Lacawac: a 52-acre glacial lake totally free from development or encroachment.
Lacawac Sanctuary is a nature center, environmental education center and biological field station located on 550 acres on the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack. Its main function is the protection of its natural areas, including Lake Lacawac, a pristine glacial lake, and stands of virgin forest. Visitors to Lacawac can enjoy over nine miles of hiking trails. The sanctuary also includes a visitors center, environmental education center, conference/workshop space, and a science laboratory. Public programs, such as hikes and educational workshops, are featured throughout the year.Back to Top
