Home to more than 127 varieties of trees, shrubs, and plants, the Pocono Mountains is a spectacular sight during the fall season. Immerse yourself in fall colors Poconos and discover one of the best places to view fall foliage in Pennsylvania.

Because the region spans 2,400 square miles of northeastern PA, three distinct color zones are present, allowing you to catch Pennsylvania’s peak colors not only once, but three times. Updated every Thursday through the end of October, this forecast will assist you with discovering where, when and how to experience the brilliant foliage in our four-county region. Week of Thursday, September 10, 2026 through Wednesday, September 16, 2026​

Northern: The northernmost color zone encompasses northern Wayne and Pike Counties, including the charming towns of Honesdale and Hawley. Minimal color change is happening this week. You can see shades of red in some of the Red Maples and Sumac Trees. Shades of yellow and orange are showing up in the Black Cherry and Birch Trees as they start to turn color in spots. Some of the best areas to spot early color are around swamps and other wet areas. Full color is around 5% with 100% of the leaves on the trees. The projected date range for peak color is October 8–14, 2026.

Central: The central color zone encompasses southern Wayne, Pike, and northern Monroe Counties, including Bushkill Falls foliage and more. Weather dependent, Bushkill Falls is typically open through November, allowing you to experience the full range of leaf colors as they drift over the falls. No major color changes are happening yet. A few trees are showing scattered color, but that is primarily a stress response. If the cool, dry weather continues, the region's fall color season will be fantastic! Full color is around 1% with 100% of the leaves on the trees. The projected date range for peak color is October 8–14, 2026.

Southern: The southern color zone encompasses southern Monroe County and Carbon County, including Jim Thorpe fall foliage. Black Gum is starting to change in a few areas of Carbon County, showing off some of its characteristic deep red fall foliage. Full color is around 5% with 100% of the leaves on the trees. The projected date range for peak color is October 20–28, 2026.
