Snowmen of Stroudsburg | Pocono Mountains
Discover nearly 60 life-size Snowmen of Stroudsburg gracing the streets for another winter season.
Go on a scavenger hunt to find nearly 60 life-size snowmen, including ten new creations, spread throughout the Stroudsburg-area. The Snowmen of Stroudsburg are imagined and designed by local artists, including Erik Diemer, who brought Bella Bubbles to life with his mom, Lisa, who owns The Main Street Makery.
“I probably put 40 hours in just the base construction and painting of the first couple layers. It does take a lot of time and planning. For this one in particular, you need a whole woodworking shop to make it happen. My hope for volunteering for this project is that it (Bella Bubbles) would be loved by the community, and it seems she is,” Erik smiled.
The Stroudsburg-based organization GO Collaborative started the Snowmen of Stroudsburg in 2017 to bring visitors downtown during a time of year that is typically slow for small businesses.
“I had an old friend who worked for Disney who told me where to get the snowballs made. Then we talked to iron workers to make the frames. We talked to so many people, probably for four to five months before we got our first snowman complete. Pocono Joe, the fisherman. We tested everything and moved on,” explained Jim Evanisko, GO Collaborative.
Select shops, including Fitzpatrick’s Irish and Celtic Store, are stocked with snowmen maps and trading cards for kids to collect. You can also vote online for your favorite.
“They're all very unique in their own way. It’s hard to actually pick one that's "the best one" because if you look at them, there's a little story behind them all,” said Paula Fitzpatrick, owner of Fitzpatrick’s Irish and Celtic Store.
Businesses welcome the snowmen every season and enhance the visitor experience with special offerings. Pocono Soap, for example, created a Snowmen of Stroudsburg soy candle, with $5 from each sale supporting GO Collaborative and the snowmen.
“People have now created this as a part of their family traditions. They're coming every year to see what's new and a lot of people have discovered our store because of the Snowmen of Stroudsburg,” said Amanda Beam, general manager of Pocono Soap.
The Snowmen of Stroudsburg are on display now through February 21, 2025.
While searching for your favorites, make sure to shop, sip, savor a delicious meal, and support the small businesses making Stroudsburg a destination throughout the year!
“This time of the year you have the snowmen go out, the tree lighting goes on in Courthouse Square, all the trees are lit downtown. The town looks beautiful and it’s really nice,” Paula Fitzpatrick added.
Building a beloved tradition and watching it “snowball” ever since!
