Wonderland Madhouse and Madness Distillery

Go down the rabbit hole for an immersive escape room experience unlike any other!

Expect the unexpected. Where solving puzzles might leave you puzzled, and take you down a rabbit hole, song and dance included.

Wonderland Madhouse at the Pocono Premium Outlets in Tannersville is an immersive theatre escape room unlike any other with 4,000 square feet of playing space and live characters guiding you along the way. It's a great place to stop after a day of shopping and scoring great deals.

“You're going to have to sing and dance with the Mad Hatter, answer riddles, you're going to have all sorts of interactive challenges and puzzles,” explained Tone Purzycki, CEO.

Challenges involve a pivot table maze and the tears of Alice - which you'll see and feel. The goal is to save Alice from the Queen of Hearts.

“Someone has painted the Queen’s roses, so she is interrogating everyone to find out who has painted her roses these unsightly colors. And if you don't paint them back to red, well, off with your head, Tone smiled.

From puzzles to putts, play a game of another kind. “We also have a nine hole mini golf that is themed as the hedge maze at the Queen of Hearts’ rose garden. There are some interactive elements to it as well,” Tone added.

You can put and sip, or solve and sip, your way through thanks to the Madness Distillery tasting room on-site, open seven days a week as part of the Pocono Beverage Trail. Enjoy seasonal and themed cocktails handcrafted from five flavors of vodka and eleven flavors of rum. Plus, small bites and baked goods.

“Where else can you go and interact with characters at the bar, where you can truly be in that world? You can even do spirit tastings while playing the immersive theater escape room. As you unlock into new rooms, there could be a flight waiting in each room. We host a lot of bachelorette and bachelor parties,” Tone said.

Upstairs, have your own Mad Hatter's Tea Party with special events such as murder mystery nights. “We do trivia nights up there as well. We actually do a really nice cocktail pairing, dinner menu situation you can book,” Tone said.

You might remember from past episodes of Pocono Mountains Magazine, Tone Purzycki's former location in Bartonsville was lost to fire in June 2023. Many other small businesses were also displaced. A year later Tone and his team have rebuilt, reimagined, and reopened here at the Pocono Premium Outlets!

And they're celebrating another big opening at Country Junction - The World's Largest General Store in Lehighton, bringing the popular F-5 tornado concept from Bartonsville back to life. Plus, a themed tasting room called Tornado Alley.

“There's an element of Country Junction that's all about The Wizard of Oz and ‘follow the yellow brick road’ through the general store. The first act of The Wizard of Oz involves a certain tornado coming through Kansas and dropping Dorothy in The Land of Oz. So, we figured a tornado is the perfect experiential attraction that works hand-in-hand with everything they're already doing there,” Tone explained.
