Wildlife Viewing

As you enjoy the great outdoors of our area, catch a glimpse of the wild animals and birds who call the Pocono Mountains home.

The lush landscape of the Poconos is an ideal habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. Wander the paths at local, state and national parks or local wildlife sanctuaries to spot squirrels, deer, raccoons and foxes in our forests. Look for newts and toads along the trails or bring your binoculars to do some birdwatching. The majestic American Bald Eagle can sometimes be sighted along the Delaware and Lackawaxen Rivers during the winter, and many other feathered friends, from songbirds to waterfowl, can be spotted year-round.

Bears are common in different parts of our region, so remember to stay alert while exploring the wilderness. Take any trash with you and leave no trace so that the Poconos can continue to be a pristine home for local members of the animal and bird kingdoms.
