Your Pocono Mountains Guide to Fall Fun: Part Two

Clear waterways, long country roads and charming, historic towns make up the Pocono Mountains’ central color zone, where fall foliage is at 25-30% of peak color this week. According to the Fall Foliage Forecast, this color zone, which encompasses southern Pike and Wayne and northern Monroe Counties, will reach its peak the week of October 13-19, 2016.

In the Pocono Mountains, we love festivals almost as much as we love fall foliage. So when the time comes to combine the two, everyone is in on the action. Fall festivals fill the weekends from late September through October.​

Fall activities range from celebrations of harvest and history to feasts of food and seasonal brews. And while most autumn events are open to all ages, some have special features just for kids. Here are ten family-friendly fall festivals coming soon to the Pocono Mountains.

According to Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine, a destination wedding is one that takes place at least 100 miles from the bride's residence. For couples in Philadelphia and New York, the Pocono Mountains is right on the edge. It’s close enough to arrive by car, and just far enough to feel like an escape. As this Destination Weddings article states, “Wed away, and you won’t have to choose from the same old hometown spots all your friends have booked.”
