A one-stop shop with good food and family fun, Apple Valley Restaurant and Village is the place to come, and it’s iconic in the town of Milford, PA.
Deanna met up with Steve Rosado, who is part of Milford Hospitality Group, to get a tour and see what they have to offer at Apple Valley. They began with some friendly competition of mini golf, which was a recent addition to the village, and discussed how the idea came about. Steve said, “One of our goals was to create affordable experiences for families with two or three kids. It gets crazy expensive nowadays to go anywhere, just to go somewhere to eat. With $10 you can come play a round of golf and get a scoop of ice cream. As a parent, you can sit back and enjoy watching your kids play within eyes-distance of you." The creamery was also a new addition two years prior. They have a variety of delicious flavors with options for everyone in your group. The families visiting are really enjoying all these new additions to the village.
After enjoying some ice cream, Steve took Deanna for a tour around the village. The best part about the grounds of the village is that there is plenty of space for families to relax and enjoy ice cream and also for the kids to run around and play. There is a beautiful pond you can sit by and some cute shops to stroll in and out of as well. Steve shared that the National Historic Landmark Grey Towers is adjacent to Apple Valley’s property, “One of the best parts of it is, families get to go up there, kids get to enjoy themselves, there’s a free scavenger hunt, then they can come back here, play some mini golf, and have a full day of fun.”
Deanna and Steve then headed to check out the restaurant and talk about its history. Apple Valley Restaurant was started in 1966 and has always been a family friendly restaurant. Steve said “We really didn’t change too much when we purchased the property in 2021. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, and we kept it the way that everyone loves it. A lot of the dishes have remained the same."
While sampling some dishes that were brought out, Steve told Deanna that despite many of the recipes staying the same, there were a few additions such as the one on the table which was the chef’s mother’s recipe and was absolutely delicious! Steve also said, “It’s one of those places where we try to think of the guest first and every single entrée has a vegetarian version of it as well.” There is definitely something for everyone!
