Spring FAQ

  • Because of its higher elevation, spring sometimes starts a little later in the Poconos than it does in other parts of Pennsylvania. In March and April, temperatures start to rise, and early flowers start to appear. In May, the trees really begin to fill out, and spring arrives in earnest.

  • Spring is a great time for hiking in the Poconos! Because the trees are just budding out and still partly-bare, you'll have better views through the branches on many scenic trails in the area. You'll also avoid the extremes of cold and heat that you might get on a winter or summer hike, but don't forget to check the forecast to dress for the weather!

  • As the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers." The weather in April can be unpredictable, so bring layers in case the temperatures dip, and don't forget waterproof gear for rainy days.
