Camelback Mountain Adventures in the Poconos

Take an adventure with Deanna as she experiences all that Camelback Mountain Adventures has to offer.

Come take an adventure through the mountains at Camelback Mountain Adventures. Deanna and the PTN team went to check out everything they have to offer. Calla Sandt, one of Camelback’s Adventure Attendants and also our PTN intern, was Deanna’s guide for the day.

The first activity, Camelback’s 4,000 ft Zip Rider, started at the top of the mountain, where Calla shared, “It’s 180 feet in the air when you take off, which is really cool, and it’s the longest zipline in Pennsylvania.” This ride allows you to sit back, let your feet dangle and enjoy flying over the beautiful mountainscape. The main tip from Calla was, “Just have fun!"

The next activity was the 1,000 ft Double Barrel Zipline, where you start from 8 stories above the ground then race a friend as you zip through the trees. Both ziplines were fun and completely different experiences, so if you have the opportunity, we suggest doing both!

The Mountain Coaster was next on the agenda for the day. It takes you for an exhilarating yet laid back ride through the mountains but is very customizable. You get to control how fast or slow you go, and again, you can’t beat those mountain views.

Before heading to any other activity, they had to race each other down the mountain at Sunbowl Tubing. Camelback is one of the largest tubing parks in the US so they know a thing or two about tubing! Experience the same fun as in the winter but without the chills.

Deanna really wanted to try Camelback’s off-road adventure before ending her day, so Calla took her to check out the Switchback UTV Tour. On this tour, you’ll get to drive all through the mountains, off the beaten path. You’ll get to drive on trails that during the winter when covered in snow are the actual ski slopes. You get to see all kinds of wildlife, and you get to enjoy the view of the mountains. There is a beautiful pit stop at the top of one of the trails with a breathtaking overlook, which is great for photo ops. During their pitstop, Deanna chatted with another of Camelback’s Adventure Attendants and their UTV tour guide, Jason Gattuso.  Deanna asked Jason what was his favorite part of riding these trails. Jason shared, “Just to see the looks on everyone’s faces. I get to do this every day, and it’s awesome, but for people that don’t get to experience it all the time, it’s a really good time.”

Deanna definitely got the adrenaline rush she was seeking. She loved hitting the gas, driving over all the rocky terrain and never knowing what amazing view or animal was around the next turn.

After all the fun and excitement of the day, Deanna checked in with Camelback’s Marketing Director, Molly Coneybeer to find out what keeps guests coming back. Molly shared that guests return “because there is always something fun to do here. There are so many options, and it’s a great fit for everybody. If you want the biggest thrill, probably the 4,000 ft zipline or if you want to kick back and relax with some excitement, on the mountain coaster you can choose your own speed. There is something for everyone which makes it fun for all ages. Anyone can find something awesome to do here at Mountain Adventures.”

There is a lot that you can pack in one day. Molly also shared, “If you want to really truly experience it all, stay the night. Our hotel guests also get a discount off all of our mountain adventures. Sometimes it just makes more sense to stay and get to experience everything that Camelback has to offer, especially here at Mountain Adventures!”

If you and your family or friends are looking for a day full of fun and thrills, you must check out Camelback’s Mountain Adventures on your next trip to the Poconos! Also, we agree with Molly. If you can make it work, stay overnight to truly experience everything they have to offer. We hope you come experience all the adventures for yourself!
