Jack Frost National Golf Club in Blakeslee, PA

Follow Deanna to Jack Frost National for a lesson, club fitting, and stunning mountain views.

Golf season has officially returned to the Poconos, and for both locals looking to squeeze in a quick weekday round and weekenders escaping the city, it’s the ideal time to hit the greens. At Jack Frost National Golf Club in Lake Harmony, the atmosphere caters to everyone—from beginners learning the basics to seasoned players chasing a lower handicap.

During a visit to the course, Deanna Fontanez and the PTN team explored what makes this destination unique, starting with a meeting with Keith Devos, the course manager. “The overall size of the golf course, it's spread out over so much land,” Keith explained. “You do not see another hole in between; the hole you’re on, you’ll see the group ahead of you, the group behind you—that’s about it.” The course's expansive layout offers a sense of seclusion and tranquility that enhances the playing experience. Deanna also got a firsthand look at one of the course’s more novel features. “These are our fin scooters; we brought these on board about three years ago,” Keith said. “Just a really cool way to play golf and get out on the course... just riding by yourself and enjoying cruising the scooter down the fairway.” Deanna had the opportunity to take one out on the course during her visit, adding a bit of fun and freedom to her round.

Next, she met with Ryan Kearn, the club’s golf professional, who brings extensive experience to every lesson and club fitting. Kearn emphasized the importance of proper equipment and technique. “Just by looking at your numbers—how far you're swinging, how fast you're swinging, the max height of the golf ball—I can pretty much put together a club that's going to improve all the numbers,” he said. After fitting Deanna with a new club, the improvement was instant. “Oh my gosh. It definitely feels different,” she noted. Ryan responded, “Great job! That’s it. So much easier, so much better.” His passion for the course and the surrounding scenery was clear. “This place is a gem,” Ryan said. “I’m probably the only golf pro in the United States right now that has this as his office every day. When the leaves are changing, this is one of the best places to give a lesson.” Deanna couldn’t help but agree: “You can't beat these views.” Following the fitting and swing lesson, the duo took their new form to the first hole, where Ryan offered encouragement after each swing: “Great shot… Great! There you go. Not bad.”

Whether it's nailing the perfect drive, soaking in scenic mountain views, or simply enjoying quality time with friends, golf in the Poconos offers something special for every player. As Deanna ended her visit, she shared, “Our courses in the Poconos keep our guests coming back. So, grab your clubs, rally your crew, and make a day out of it—or a weekend!” Book your tee time now!
