Midweek Getaways in the Poconos

Enjoy some extra peace and quiet and get a great deal on your summer vacation!

Summer is almost here and reservations are filling up fast, so now is the perfect time to plan your getaway to the Pocono Mountains. A mid-week stay comes with some great perks including lighter crowds, special offers and packages, and overall great value.

The peaceful sound of ‘nothing’ is exactly what you’ll get during a mid-week getaway at Mountain Springs Lake Resort.

“When you come for a visit, it feels like this is your own private preserve,” said managing partner Bill Rader.

Mountain Springs Lake Resort offers a variety of rental units, including original log cabins from the 50s and 60s and high-end luxury suites.

“We have about 320 acres here. There is a 76-acre lake on the property, which is about a mile long, and it’s all private,” said Rader.

Although the Poconos is ready to welcome you any time, weekends and holidays can get busy. If you want the region’s attractions all to yourself, consider visiting Monday-Thursday.

“I would also think about not just coming here during what I call the high season. Some of the most beautiful months in the Poconos are those off-months, like September and October, when you can experience sights like fall foliage,” Rader advised.

All 40 rental units come with a rowboat and dock. There is even a nature trail just for guests. Plus, Mountain Springs Lake Resort is close to all the area’s attractions such as Pocono Raceway, The Crossings Premium Outlets, Camelback Resort, and Mount Airy Casino Resort.

In another part of the Poconos, East Shore Lodging and its 12 individually unique hotel units is just a stone’s throw from Lake Wallenpaupack.

“We are the first business after the big ‘Welcome to Lake Wallenpaupack’ sign. We are centrally located between the walkable town of Hawley and the Lake where all the activity happens in the summertime,” explained co-owner Steve Gelderman.

Guests can rent a pontoon boat, kayak, or standup paddle board from East Shore Lodging. Also on-site is Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tours, the area’s only 50-minute narrated cruise.

“We have restaurants right next door to us, so it’s walkable if you are staying here as a hotel guest. There are also several other restaurants within two miles,” Gelderman added.

When planning your Pocono getaway, keep an eye out for mid-week deals and packages.

“Midweeks in the summertime are very manageable. Lake Wallenpaupack is less busy and there is less traffic, but businesses are still open and running seven days a week,” said Gelderman.
