Mountain Springs Lake Resort Tour | Pocono Mountains

Explore the recent upgrades and unique amenities at Mountain Springs Lake Resort near Tannersville, PA.

Whether you’re looking for an experience that is rustic, modern, or something in between, Mountain Springs Lake Resort has a variety of overnight accommodations, including recently renovated units.

“The resort has been around since 1945. Here at our lakeside cabin, the only thing that feels rustic is how it’s constructed. Inside is provisioned like a modern home, plus a fireplace and lakeside view. All 40 units come with their own rowboat, and the 76 acre lake is all private,” said Bill Rader, co-owner.

Guests also have access to two sandy beaches and a two-mile, private hiking trail that winds around the lake and crosses over the creek. The Orchard is great for private events and gatherings, such as family reunions or corporate retreats.

“The Orchard was actually created by our nephew, Ben Rader, so everything you see here, except for a couple of structural pieces of lumber, was actually harvested, milled, and built here. The space is also used quite often by our sister property, The Lodge, for afterparties following wedding receptions,” he added.

In addition to the lakeside cabin, guests can book a vintage log cabin for a truly rustic, Pocono experience. “We have about a dozen of these log homes spread around the property. This unit was built in the late 1950s and we keep them in good shape. When people want that true mountain experience, this is the way to do it,” Rader explained.

Fallen down trees have been repurposed to create unique campfire sites outside each unit.

“We have a mill here. We can lumber this stuff, then brand it with our Mountain Springs Lake Resort logo. There is a finish on the benches, so it feels nice and smooth. We see quite a few people really enjoying this experience while they’re here in the mountains,” Rader smiled.

For a modern touch, there are eight luxury suites available.

“These are our most recently built units. They were built in 2019 and reflect the taste of what people would look for in a luxury accommodation today with king-sized beds, fireplaces, smart TVs, and elegant bathrooms with soaking tubs and rain showers,” Rader said.

Mountain Springs Lake Resort feels like its own private oasis, yet is close to so many other Pocono Places.

“We are eight minutes from Camelback Resort, within a half-hour of six ski areas and about a dozen wineries or microbreweries. Plus, we’re 90 minutes from Philadelphia and New York City. We’re two miles from Route 80, but it’s super quiet here. As a matter of fact, one question we get quite frequently, even when we’re at capacity, is ‘are there any other people here?’ because it really is a quiet oasis,” Rader explained.

The property has an interesting history related to the once popular ice harvesting industry, which serviced nearby cities prior to refrigeration.

“Our family bought the property in 1945. Originally, there were 11 massive ice houses right along the lake, as most lakes in the Poconos were used to harvest ice from. So, there is a pretty significant amount of history here when you think about it,” he said.

Not only can you stay overnight at the resort, but you can also host your wedding or special event at sister property The Lodge at Mountain Springs Lake.

“We can host up to 200 guests here. We have a ceremony site outside in front of the pond, which is beautiful and private. Then we move to our cocktail area, where our staff comes out with champagne and wine immediately after the ceremony. We host no more than one wedding a day. There are a few private rooms including the Groom Room, as it’s affectionately called, and the Carriage House for the brides. We have a room for their dresses, two hair chairs, and they can spend the whole day there. That’s included in their ceremony package,” said Robin Rader, co-owner.

Plus, your wedding party or guests traveling from far can stay overnight on-site at the resort. “This is also the perfect place for winter weddings. When the snow is coming down, it couldn’t be prettier,” she smiled.

“I think it’s one of the best times to visit because you have all the amenities but none of the crowds, and, depending on the time of year, it’s 30-50% off,” he added.
