Mountain Vista Campground in the Poconos

Start the summer season with a fun and affordable way to enjoy nature with your family, camping at Mountain Vista Campground!

If you're looking for a fun and affordable way to enjoy nature with your family, camping in the Poconos is the way to go. Deanna and the PTN team visited family-owned and operated Mountain Vista Campground in East Stroudsburg, one of the many beautiful campgrounds located in the Pocono Mountains, and met co-owner Jason Vaughan to talk about the property and everything they have to offer.

When asked what sets camping in the Poconos apart, Jason shared, "The Poconos has such a great amount of amenities and attractions especially in nature that you don't get to see anywhere else." Jason also shared some background on Mountain Vista Campground: "The campground is here from the 60s, and we've been here since the early 80s. We've watched a lot of these families grow up that have been camping here with us for two, three, four generations."

You may wonder what keeps these families coming back year after year. The location is great, and the staff are very friendly and engaged with their guests, making them feel like family. The property is surrounded by many beautiful trees which offer cooling shade on those hot, sunny days, and it also feels tucked away, private and very serene.

Campground guests will find amenities including a pool, splash pads, fishing pond across the road, volleyball, two playgrounds, pickleball courts, an arcade, ping pong and some other free outdoor games. They even have a dog park for your furry friends plus unique offerings like a sauna and herb garden. Jason mentioned that guests really enjoy using the sauna, especially in the spring and the fall, and it is a great addition to their list of things to do. The herb garden started small and now has grown. Jason said, "It was something we decided to try a few years back, and the campers really love it. We have about a dozen different herbs that they can come down and grab and take back for their cooking."

The trading post, which is where guests check in, offers many things campers may need for their stay that they might have forgotten or just want to purchase to enjoy. They have a great variety of candies and snacks, some camping supplies, coffee and teas, and delicious hand dipped ice cream. They also have cute souvenirs that you can pick up to remember your trip.

Camping isn't done just one way at Mountain Vista; they have a style for everyone, from tent sites to RV sites, cabins to glamping. During the tour, Deanna noticed some incredible wood carvings, and Jason shared that story of how one carving turned into 60 different carvings throughout the campground. Kids love to explore and do a scavenger hunt to try to find them all during their stay.

Mountain Vista has so much to do on site for a family, friend group, or solo traveler plus it's just a short drive to many attractions nearby, you will have no problem finding something to do! Make sure to check out Mountain Vista Campground for your next adventure to the Poconos.
