Pocono Mountains Restaurant Week 2024 Preview
Experience delicious food and mountain charm at Sycamore Grille in Delaware Water Gap, some southern comfort at Willie Mae's Place and an authentic Victorian pub and restaurant at Broadway Grille in Jim Thorpe during Pocono Mountains Restaurant Week happening April 7-12, 2024!
Deanna Fontanez and the PTN crew check out three amazing restaurants in the four counties of the Poconos as they get a sneak peek of Pocono Mountains Restaurant Week happening April 7 -12, 2024. All three restaurants are family-owned and family-run and put heart and soul into everything they do and everything they serve.
The team's first stop was Sycamore Grille in Delaware Water Gap. The owners, Lindsey and David Kidwell, bought the restaurant from Lindsey’s father and took it over in 2015, keeping the overall vibe but adding their own touch to the menu and ambience with new outdoor seating. The restaurant lives up to its motto, "Delicious Food & Mountain Charm,” with a variety of Restaurant Week specials combining well-known dishes with new options. Restaurant Week diners can enjoy a starter, entrée, and dessert for only $35.
Second stop on the team's food excursion was Willie Mae's Place on Rt.209 in Gilbert for some Southern comfort food. Owners Shantelle and Brian Davis started as home cooks then began cooking for different parties, serving up popular seafood boils and pig roasts. As the demand began to grow, Shantelle said they thought to themselves, "We should probably make this a legitimate catering business". When asked where the name Willie Mae's originated, Shantelle shared that it was her grandmother's name: "It came from her, food was her love language. A lot of the recipes we have and just the feel of the restaurant is supposed to be homey and welcoming. We try to treat our customers like family because that's what Grandma Mae would have wanted." Restaurant Week diners can sample a $29.99 deal with an appetizer, choice of one entree out of three options, and a waffle sundae dessert.
For the third and final stop, Deanna and the team stopped in the beautiful Victorian facade of Broadway Grille in Jim Thorpe. Owner Dave Drury shared the history of the building and how the business got started when his father purchased and renovated the space in the 1980s and opened the restaurant in June 1990. Dave shared, "For the first about 20 years, we leased the restaurant space, and in 2009 we decided to take it on ourselves. We did a major renovation of the dining room, the kitchen, and the pub and reopened in 2010". Deanna also talked with manager Karen Bly about what sets Broadway Grille apart from other restaurants in Jim Thorpe. Karen said," We have family-friendly dining in a historic building, a little more casual. We offer live music. We try to gear towards our tourists but also locals alike. We have a little bit of something for everyone." Karen also talked about the specials and offers that guests will get to experience during Restaurant Week, with different themes each night Monday through Friday.
