Pocono Slingshot Rentals with Bri & Dee
Explore the scenic back roads with Bri & Dee for their latest adventure together with Pocono Slingshot Rentals, a perfect way to enjoy the fall foliage this autumn!
There are so many amazing ways to enjoy spring, summer and fall in the Pocono Mountains. One of the simplest ways is to hop in a car for a scenic ride on our back roads. Bri and Dee bring you along with them for their latest adventure with Pocono Slingshot Rentals.
Before getting on the road and taking one for a ride, they met with vice president Ian Roverana to learn all about slingshots and what the business has to offer for their guests.
Ian Roverana: So, a slingshot is a three-wheeled convertible car, like a sports car. It’s a mix between a motorcycle and a car in that you have no doors; you have the open air always flowing on you. It drives just like a car though, with a steering wheel and pedals. No expertise in motorcycles needed to drive it.
Bri & Dee: If you’ve never driven one before what do we need to know?
Ian Roverana: Most of our customers have never driven these before so we always give everyone an orientation on the vehicle and show them how it all works. Starting with the glovebox, there is a sheet inside with a ton of different suggested routes. There are QR codes you just scan, and it sets you up in google maps on the route. That way you don’t have to plan the day ahead of time, you just show up and we have everything taken care of for you. There is storage behind the seats which is a perfect size for the helmets. We provide helmets at no additional costs for the rentals. They are required. You can either bring your own or use ours.
Dee: Since I’m the one driving us today, what do I need to know?
Ian Roverana: So, you do use your hand break when parking these vehicles. They are a nice easy push start, so foot on the break and press the start/stop button, that fires the vehicle up. Then you have buttons for drive, reverse and neutral. So, you can easily just put it in drive or reverse and go on your way.
Dee: Anything else we need to know before we get on the road?
Ian Roverana: Like I said, it’s going to drive just like a car, so you don’t need to be able to drive a motorcycle to ride one of these. Really, just a standard driver’s license is all it takes.
Bri and Dee were now ready to take the slingshot for a ride. They decided to use one of the suggested routes and chose the route to Francis E. Walter Dam. The views down the back roads were amazing and even more breathtaking driving over the dam.
Bri & Dee: What time of year is the business open for guests to book their ride?
Ian Roverana: Our season runs from May through October. You have spring, summer, and fall so you got all the different kind of changes of leaves there throughout the seasons. Fall is one of the best times to come take the slingshots out because you get to take in all the different colors that are changing with the leaves and everything. The weather is really nice, you don’t have the sun beating on you too much and it makes for a really great time. Jim Thorpe, one of most popular destinations is a really nice little town. You can stop, walk the streets, do some shopping, and check out the sights.
Bri & Dee: Who is a slingshot rental good for?
Ian Roverana: Mostly it’s couples going out or groups; you can do bachelor/bachelorette parties. It’s really great for any kind of group or family event since we have multiple vehicles. Each vehicle sits two, so it is really perfect for couples.
Bri & Dee: What is the price range for a rental?
Ian Roverana: Prices start at only $99 for a two-hour rental. We do really any length rental with our most popular being four hours.
Bri & Dee: Are there any requirements for renting a slingshot?
Ian Roverana: Requirements are, you have to be twenty-five years of age or older to rent and drive the slingshot. We do have a minimum passenger age of ten years old if you have any kids that want to join you for a rental.
Bri & Dee: Where did the idea to start the slingshot business come from and how has it evolved?
Ian Roverana: We’ve been doing the stockcar racing experience, where you can ride or drive the Nascar cars at Pocono Raceway, for the past twenty-five years now. Back in 2016 we saw the slingshots and thought those would be a great addition to our business in the motorsports industry. If anyone is interested in a stockcar racing experience, they can visit our website at 877StockCar.com, that’s where you can ride or drive Nascar style race cars at Pocono Raceway. You can either do a passenger seat ride a long or we’ll teach you everything you need to know and you get out there and drive in a Nascar race car at up to 160 mph around Pocono Raceway.
Bri & Dee: Earlier we discussed that you offer suggested routes for guests with their rentals, can you tell us more about that?
Ian Roverana: We have a bunch of different suggested routes because most of our customers are coming from out of the area, they don’t know their way around, so we created a bunch of different routes that are really nice scenery and winding roads to really experience the handling of the slingshot. We have ones that take you to lakes, over rivers and even through state parks.
Bri & Dee had such an amazing day and ride in the slingshot.
Bri: It’s not too late for you to have this experience too. Once again, the season runs from May through the end of October. You can learn more and book your ride at PoconoSlingshot.com.
Dee: We hope you enjoyed coming along with us for this ride. See you on the next Bri & Dee!
