The Pocono Mountains region is filled with amazing wineries, each unique in its own way.  Deanna and the PTN team visited the out-of-the-ordinary Radical Wine Company in Lehighton, an urban-style winery that has a bit of a twist.

Kate Borger and her husband Brandon turned their hobby into a business: they started as a homebrew supply store, teaching others how to make their own beer and wine, then branched into their own winery as demand grew, buying juice from farms and fermenting in a small space about the size of a hallway. Kate shared that in 2018, "We started in the little tasting room up front and slowly grew into the whole building."

Radical Wine Company started with one wine and now offers twenty-two wines, including exclusive vintages that benefit animal shelters and rescues. They also serve other fun beverages like five sangrias, sparkling wine and sparkling sangria, local Pennsylvania brews, slushies and wine-infused ice cream.

Deanna and the team were so intrigued by all the options, they had to try some! Kate created a flight mixed with a bit of everything: wine, sangria, slushie, and of course the wine-infused ice cream. Each drink was better than the next! Radical Wine Company not only offers amazing drinks, but they also have a stocked snack section with options like wine-infused fudge and other bites to go with your beverage. You can also consult their stack of menus from nearby businesses.

If you’re looking for merch, they have a whole wall of goodies including branded items with their logo, house-made dog treats, jewelry and candles made by their employees, and so much more. You’ll want to take something home for yourself or as a gift. Visitors can sit and sip in a variety of different spaces, from the tasting room to the outdoor seating available in the warmer months to the relaxing “black and white” lounge to the open room at the back, filled with natural light and used to host special events such as Sip and Shops and Animal Rescue benefits. Radical Wine Company is a pet-friendly business, so you can even bring along your dog.
