Callie’s Candy Kitchen, a longtime chocolate destination in the Poconos, is getting ready to celebrate 71 sweet years in business. Lynn Callie, whose parents founded this family-owned and operated business, says Easter is the busiest holiday of the year.

“Easter is our busiest holiday, followed by Christmas then Valentine’s Day. If you want it, we have it. Chocolate rabbits, eggs, Oreos. We have big rabbits, little rabbits, cats, dogs, cars, trucks and anything you can imagine, all covered in chocolate,” said Callie.

Callie’s was founded in Bangor, Northampton County in 1952, then relocated 51 years ago to its current location in Mountainhome. “We're on our third, fourth generation of visitors now. People will see a candy and say, ‘oh, my grandmother used to buy me that.’ It’s fun to be part of people's holidays,” said Callie.

Many of the machines Callie’s uses for candy production are antique, dating back to the 1930s. For visitors seeking a nostalgic experience, Callie’s has dozens of antique chocolate molds on display inside the store. “A lot of the molds were made in Germany and used at our original location in Bangor. They are priceless, you can’t find these anymore. Nowadays, most molds are plastic,” added Callie.

Callie’s Candy Kitchen operates an online store and ships products across the country, so everyone can get a taste of this chocolate destination.
