Halloween events in downtown district begin this weekend
Little ghouls and goblins have plenty to celebrate in downtown Stroudsburg as ‘Spooky Stroudsburg’ takes over Main Street and beyond. In addition to decorated storefronts and four life-size, handcrafted ghost figures placed around the downtown courtesy of GO Collaborative, visitors will get into the Halloween spirit with a full lineup of events.
‘Mystery Around Main Street’ – Daily through October 31, 2022
Detective, we need your help. Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission hosts ‘Spooky Stroudsburg Scavenger Search,’ taking participants around the downtown to collect and unscramble 11 clues for the chance to win a grand prize. This free activity takes approximately 1.5 hours.
2nd Annual Carved Pumpkin Contest – Saturday, October 15, 2022 (5:30 – 6:30 p.m.)
Bring a real, pre-carved pumpkin to Courthouse Square between 3:30 – 5:15 p.m. for the chance to win prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Event includes live music and entertainment. Must be present to win. Judging begins promptly at 6 p.m. One entry per family.
‘Remembering the Dead’ Cemetery Tours – Saturday, October 22, 2022 (various times)
Join Monroe County Historical Association for a tour of Stroudsburg's historic Friends Burial Ground on Quaker Alley. Learn about the origins of the historic cemetery and some of the notable Monroe County citizens buried there. This is a free event, but advance registration is required. Tours begin every half hour between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Reservations are available at 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, and 4:00 p.m. Space is limited, so please call 570-421-7703 or email [email protected] to make a reservation for your preferred time slot. Event is weather dependent, donations gratefully accepted.
‘Halloween on Main’ – Saturday, October 29, 2022 (various times)
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Monroe Farmers Market hosts ‘Harvest Day’ in Courthouse Square.
2 p.m.: ‘Creatures of the Night’ live animal demonstration with Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, plus magic with Mark Mysterrio in Courthouse Square.
3 – 5 p.m.: Trick-or-Treat along Main Street and side roads. Look for signage in windows of 70+ participating businesses.
5 – 6 p.m.: Live performances from Mark Mysterrio, Miss Direction, and Gigi & Company Dance Studio.
*Plus, Stroudsburg Fire Department hosts an open house, giving children an up-close look at a fire truck!
Residential Trick-or-Treat – Monday, October 31, 2022 (5 – 8 p.m.)
