PMVB Community Impact Grant round two recipients announced for 2024
Within three short years, the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) has awarded more than $1 million among 129 community projects in Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Carbon counties through the PMVB Community Impact Grant.
Utilizing Hotel Occupancy Tax funds generated from overnight stays in the four-county region, the PMVB Community Impact Grant is one example of how tourism gives back in the Pocono Mountains.
While the program has awarded funds once per year since its creation in 2022, the PMVB doubled its investment this year by recently re-opening applications for a second round of funding to support even more community initiatives (see below for 2024 round two recipients).
In round two of funding for 2024, $224,357 has been awarded among 24 community projects, bringing the grand total to $1,186,833 distributed among 129 regional projects.
“We are Pocono Proud to support local communities and organizations that provide wonderful experiences and opportunities for all who live, work, play, and learn in the Pocono Mountains. This program, which benefits local residents and tourists alike, is one way the PMVB can say ‘thank you’ for hosting the 30 million visitors to the Pocono Mountains each year,” said Chris Barrett, President/CEO, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.
Local governments including, but not limited to, boroughs and townships as well as municipal and redevelopment authorities were eligible to apply for funding to support projects that aim to enhance the quality of life in Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Carbon counties. At least a 50% match was required, with a $20,000 grant cap request.
Once available, information about the 2025 PMVB Community Impact Grant will be posted at PoconoMountains.com/Grants.
