Poconos camping season typically runs from late April to mid-October, and with dozens of locations throughout our four counties, we’ve got a style for everyone. Most area campgrounds are family-owned and spread out across acres of wooded property, providing scenic backdrops and a wide range of bivouacking possibilities. You’ll even find on-site activities like kid-friendly happenings, game rooms, and water recreation at many properties.

Whether you'd like to disconnect from the modern world entirely or know you'll want to check the ‘likes’ on your campfire pic right away, you'll find campgrounds with just the amenities you're looking for in the Pocono Mountains. From tranquil tent sites to cozy cabins, read on for a breakdown of the best Poconos camping options for your vacation.

Tent Camping Sites

1. Tent Camping Sites

You can't go wrong with a classic! Most campsites in the Poconos are furnished with everything you need for traditional tent camping: a fire ring, picnic table, water and electric, plus technology and restrooms providing hot showers available upon request. Peaceful Woodlands Family Campground has sites spread across 50 acres and lots of amenities to enjoy including two playgrounds, mini golf, a game room, heated pool, and more. Guests at Mountain Vista Campground can ride the fire truck, fish in the stocked pond, or play pickleball, volleyball, basketball, disc golf, and more.

Camping near Jim Thorpe

Take in panoramic views from 100 Mile Camping, located just three miles from historic Jim Thorpe - there's a scenic, no-traffic backroad that leads straight into town! Spend the day biking and whitewater rafting with Adventure Center at Whitewater Challengers in Weatherly then stay the night at their onsite campground, with tent rentals and rustic bunkhouses available.

Riverfront Campsites

Located in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Dingmans Campground features riverfront tent sites and an onsite general store with supplies and bike rentals. Kittatinny's River Beach Campground also offers waterfront camping along the Delaware. You can even pair it with a Kittatinny Canoes river trip!

Pet-friendly Campsites

Want to "ruff" it with your pooch? Don Laine Campground near Beltzville State Park welcomes pets and offers dog parks and trails on-site. Up to two dogs can come along for stays in the pet friendly cabins at Delaware Water Gap/Pocono Mountain KOA which is also home to a Kamp K-9 Pet Area.

Adults Only Campsites

Specializing in 21+ LGBTQ+ getaways, Camp Out Poconos offers tent sites with scenic views and amenities like jacuzzi, games, and live shows.


RV Campsites

2. RV Campsites

Daily, seasonal, long term and year-round RV sites are available at many area campgrounds. Forgot to stock up your RV cupboards? Most campgrounds have stores for the convenience of tent and RV camping guests alike, offering ice, campfire supplies and snacks, just to name a few items. Pocono Vacation Park is golf cart friendly (electric only) and has full hook-ups, pull throughs, and 50 amp electric sites. Otter Lake Camprounds is a popular spot for RVing with some waterfront sites available on the 60-acre sparkling lake.

Centrally located in East Stroudsburg, Timothy Lake North RV has sites suitable for all different motor home sizes, with annual sites available. Don’t own an RV but want to try one? Kim’s Cozy Campers in Hawley offers traveling camper rentals.

If you want to enjoy the great outdoors, but you're not quite ready to give up all the comforts of home, upgrade your camping experience with a stay at your very own fully-equipped cabin. Book a vacation at Loch Highlands near Lake Wallenpaupack where the cabins come with electric heat, cable TV, and beautiful lake views. Guests at Echo Valley Cottages in East Stroudsburg can take advantage of onsite activities like mini golf and beach volleyball.

The six bohemian cabins at Magnolia Streamside Resort in Canadensis near Skytop come with fireplaces and fully-equipped kitchens. Pocono Camp and Glamp near Jim Thorpe features fresh, redesigned cabins with covered porches, Adirondack chairs, and multiple bathhouses throughout the property.

For many, the word “camping” calls to mind summer camps, and both children and adults can find a variety of exciting summer camp programs in the Poconos. Whether you're looking for a sleep-away camp for the season or planning to host a family reunion, the region's spacious camps offer something for everyone. Keep in mind camps book up quickly, and the earlier you make your camp reservations, the more availability you'll find! Camp Akiba in Reeders originally opened in 1926, and campers ages eight to fifteen can still take part in cherished traditions and spend six weeks out in the fresh air and on the lake, now with a brand new aquapark. Wayne County Camp Alliance is a network of over 30 resident camps within a 30-mile radius in Wayne County, allowing for friendly team sport competition and tournaments every summer.

Spruce Lake Summer Camps at Spruce Lake Retreat are adventure-filled and Christ-centered with options for day camp, summer overnight camp, and the three-day True North Adventure experience available to youth and adult groups. The International Sports Training Camp takes over Trout Lake every summer to teach kids life skills through sports with specialized training as well as fun camp activities like mountain biking, archery, climbing, and more!
